This week ive learnt:

• how to make a paper masha mask out of old news paper for my wearable arts (first you have to get a ballon and some paste mixed in with some water then you have to start ripping up the paper up in to small little bits after you have done that you have to drown the paper in the glue and stick it on wait till it drys and add on more layers if it is needed).
• in maths we are learning how to do perimeter to do perimeter you have to meaure the out side of a shape and add all the sides up and that is how big the shape in if it was a straght line
• cross country is coming up in week  four

Math

In this maths work I am learning about decimals fraction and percentages we are learning that they all come under the same family and we can convert all of them in to each other for example 25% is 1/4 because there are 4 25 in 100 then you have to work out how to convert it in to a decimal so then it would be 0.25 because I would just use 1.0 if it was a smaller number but it isn’t so it has to be o.25

Term 2 22.6.10

        This week ive learnt:

• how to use art rage on the computer to creat a picture using paint pencil and felt
• how to add and subtract improper and mixed fraction with different denominators First things first you have to write an equation 3/5 + 1/3 = next you have to find the lowest common multiple with the denominators 3/5 + 1/3 = (denominators) 5 x 3 + 3 x 5 = (denominators) 15+ 15 next you have to multiple the top numbers by what you had to multiple the denominators so (top numbers) 3 x 3 + 1 x 5 = 9 + 5 now you put the top numbers and denominators back in to the fractions 9/15 + 5/15 now your denominators are the same but when you plus the fractions together you have to leave them alone so the whole equation now is 9/15 + 5/15 = 14/15 and simply if you can.

Science fair

I learnt lots when I did my science fair my hypothesis was that the more salt I put in the water the shorter time it wound take to boil in my research didn’t explain much because in some websites it said putting more salt in water the longer time it would take to boil and on other websites it would say the more salt I put in water the shorter time it wound take to boil. on most of the websites I looked at it said the more salt I put in water the more the temperature it would go up so I just put it in to thought the more salt I would put in boiling water the more the temperature would rise the and the less time it would take to boil. I tried pure water 1 teaspoon one tablespoon 3 table spoons and half of a cup the pure water was the lowest by one second following the half a cup then the 3 table spoons 1 tablespoon and one teaspoon was the fastest.

term 2 week 6

          This week I’ve learnt:

• how to take brief notes take them and put them in to a report
• how to work out dividing decimals in a different way (3.5 ÷ 0.7 =   3.5 ÷ 0.7=  10 × 3.5 ÷ 10 × 0.7 =  35 ÷ 7 =  5)
• when you are using timetables with decimals you have to take out the decimal points and sort out the question that way when you are done go back to the question with the decimal point in it and count how many numbers are after the decimal and then you count from the right across and put the decimal point in the answer
• in art I learnt that some times you have to go over your painting nearly 10 times to get it perfect                                                                                                                               

Term 2 20.5.10

         This week I’ve learnt:

•  when you are ordering decimal you have to start with the largest full number then you have to see which one is the biggest but this is the tricky part because you see if there a lot of numbers after the first digit it doesn’t always make it bigger (o.9 is bigger than 0.8912347 because the first digit after the decimal point is bigger so the real question is 0.9 bigger than 0.8)
•  I learnt how to play karatu there are two teams the throwers and the runners the aim of the games is to run back and forth for to lines stepping in the hopes to get points and the throwers have to try to get the runners with the ball if the get them the runners become to throwers and the throwers become the runners
• Mrs Crowe is teaching us how to put proper grammar and punctuation  in our work to be honest im really bad
• in the jounur band we have almost learnt how to play our new song it is called dragon slayer     

4.5.10

        This week I’ve learnt:

• How to play Bandroom Boogie , Geronimo , Power Rock (queen will rock you) and many other songs
• That at Totara Springs hydro slide  you can go midair for a spilt second
• In maths I learnt how  to addition and subtract  with algorithms (with both of them you have to take out the decimal point and put it in at the end)

 My goal for this week is to try and get all of my maths done to know I’ve achieved this if I don’t get it finished I will have to take it home and get it finished

Term 1 22.3.10

       This week I have learnt:

• How to make pizza snacks (one bun cut in haft spread sauce on the buns choose your topping I had mushroom, red, pepper ,tomato and cheese on it tasted great
• How to do anagrams in the class
• How to do the two different words meaning the same ( so car is to truck as dolphin is to whale
• How to do a book revue because Mrs Crowe gave us some sheets of paper that willshow us how to do them  

Term 1 17.3.10

        This week I’ve learnt:

• That magnets are used in machinery like micro waves and cellphones/telephones
• I learnt how to do Marry had a little lamb on the trombone at this weeks after school practice  
• I learnt on mathletics how to times percentages (so 20% times 1000 would equal 200 because 200 is 20% of 1000)
• I learnt where to put commas in my work so I don’t have to do full stops all the time
• I learnt if you mix corn flour and water together it make this sort of slimy liquid but if you hit  it would go hard and then going back slimy again (plus if you leave it to long if would dry up and make a mess)

my goal for this week is to get my story map done for  my reading task done I will know I’ve achieved it when the teacher says it’s all right and ticks it off.

The Best Site

I sat in the car tired and bored watching a multi colour sea of trees and wavy long crisp brown grass dance around the paddock like it had just been New Year. My brothers were by my side one playing psp and the other reading. A wonderful feeling came over me like I had just got my Christmas presents the car had stopped. I sat up as strait as an arrow. I felt like my whole body had been struck by lighting. The sea of trees had come to a Holt a breeze had flooded in I felt refreshed. I jumped out of the car there was a giant bush full of native trees and birds. There was a small gravel path and on a rock next to the track that looked to be a very old and torn poster that was home made and was duck tapped on it read “best site ever”. I rushed down the gravel track past the branches and puddles over the bumps and dips finally I got to the end of the track panting. There was a small booth that stood just hanging over a giant and very steep cliff. The cliff was damp with small landings that plants grew on and I thought ok this is all right but was expecting something better then I heard water running and then I sore it there was a great big water fall. That was sparkling in the sun it looked like one million diamonds were falling from a great cliff of emeralds (the lushes green moss and plants made it look like emeralds). I saw to the left another track there was   a sine that said track to the bottom. I bolted down there as fast as I could. My bothers were sprinting after me I had token a short cut through the bush. I was way a head when I got to the bottom I was puffing you could see every thing from the calm rocky water that was a clear as the bright blue sky to the biggest native plants I’ve ever seen. It was time to go to say good bye to the world’s greatest site and back to the hot and stuffy old car.
